Vent: Hit 10 years in my Alpharetta house and the property tax nearly doubled on me

I knew taxes went up over time but watching that annual statement jump from $3,200 to $6,100 by year ten really made me question if staying put was the right call, has anyone else been blindsided by their tax assessment climbing that fast?

Hold on, from $3,200 to $6,100 in ten years? That's insane. Did they reassess your whole neighborhood or something because that jump seems way steeper than the usual creep.

ease up a little, ten years is a long time. 3,200 to 6,100 sounds like a lot if you look at it as a straight number, but property values in Alpharetta have been on a rocket ride for a decade. I'd take a closer look at your actual assessed value versus what you think the house is worth now, because that tax bill might just be catching up to reality. Not saying it doesn't sting, but a 4 to 5 percent yearly increase on something like a house is kinda par for the course these days. Could be worse, you could be in some of these places where they reassess every two years and you get hit with that jump way faster.
