Why does nobody talk about how much water comes out of a bad thermostat?
I was swapping out a stuck open thermostat on a 2005 Civic last Saturday and the amount of coolant that came out was insane, like almost 2 gallons. Turns out a stuck open thermostat can dump way more than you expect because the system never fully warms up and expands right. Has anyone else had that surprise mess when pulling one?

Right, and you get to stand there watching your driveway turn into a slip n slide because the drain plug is rusted shut. Gotta love that free carwash for your lawn.

And you didn't even mention the fun part where you gotta fish the old thermostat out of the housing while coolant keeps trickling down your arm into your armpit, right? Did your Civic have that little bleeder screw on the thermostat housing or were you one of the lucky ones that has to burp the system the old fashioned way?
