Chatted with a mechanic who changed how I see extended warranties
Was talking to Mike at the local Firestone in Cleveland last week, and he straight up said most extended warranties are a waste unless you drive a luxury car past 100k miles. He pointed out his 2015 Honda still running fine on no extra coverage. Made me rethink the $1,200 I almost dropped on a plan for my sedan.

Man, same here. Dropped $900 on a plan I never used.

@ericb66 had a bad experience, but $900 for nothing doesn't mean the whole idea is dumb. My buddy's 2018 Audi needed a new transmission at 70k miles, cost him $6,500 out of pocket because he skipped the warranty. Different cars need different protection, and a mechanic's advice on his own Honda doesn't cover everyone else's situation.
