Had a ground loop issue in a Cessna 172 last Tuesday

Was troubleshooting a hum in the comms on a 172 out at Wichita. Turned out the antenna cable was running too close to the power bus. Anyone else run into this on the older Cessnas?

I used to think antenna placement was just about making it fit, but that "running too close to the power bus" thing changed my mind after I had the same hum in a 172 out of Amarillo. It's amazing how much noise you can pick up from something that simple.

Yeah same here, I once routed a coax right next to the alternator feed and wondered why my radio sounded like AM static.
