I was dead wrong about those all-in-one test sets

For years I thought the all-in-one avionics test sets were a gimmick. Kept using my separate boxes for everything, like a stubborn mule. Then last month we had a 737 come in with a weird comm issue and my buddy let me borrow his Aeroflex. I had the problem isolated in 20 minutes flat. Now I'm saving up for my own, anyone else make the switch and regret waiting so long?

Man that Aeroflex is a game changer once you actually use it on a real snag. Had a similar thing happen with a CRJ that was throwing all kinds of weird code errors on the radios. Took me like two days poking around with separate boxes before I borrowed one and found the issue was just a loose pin on a connector. The time savings alone pays for itself if you do this kind of work more than once a month. Biggest thing I learned is that the integration is where it shines, you can chase a signal path without swapping cables every five minutes. Just make sure you get one with the right software updates for your fleet, some older units won't cover the newer stuff.

@nina147 did that loose pin show up on any continuity test before you swapped cables, or was the fault intermittent enough to hide from a basic check?
