Laughed at a coworker's multiplexing trick on a 737 until I tried it myself
Swore I'd never use those expensive Deutsch connectors for a simple repair, but after chasing a flickering nav light for three days in Atlanta, I get why the manuals push them. Anyone else eat crow on a tool or method they thought was overkill?

Learned that lesson with a stubborn fuel gauge on a Cessna, now I don't cut corners either.

Buddy of mine swore by using zip ties for everything on his old Chevy, laughed at the guy who replaced a busted coolant hose with a Deutsch connector. A month later he was stranded on the side of I-75 with the zip tie melted clean off and a puddle of antifreeze under his truck. Now he keeps a handful of those connectors in his glove box and says it's the best thirty bucks he ever spent.
