My $150 'deluxe' fiber optic inspection camera turned my coffee into a science project

I bought this little handheld scope to check inside some tight avionics boxes, and it worked great. Then I left it on the break room table after checking a stubborn cannon plug. My buddy, thinking it was some new kind of stir stick, dropped it right into his mug to mix in the creamer (he said it looked 'futuristic'). The camera still works, but now the screen shows a permanent, blurry brown stain whenever I turn it on. Anyone else have a tool that got ruined in a totally dumb way?

My buddy Mike once dropped a $300 torque wrench into a sump, which totally proves derek_ramirez's point.

Hate to be that guy @andrew854 but I think your buddy's $300 torque wrench wouldn't prove much about camera etiquette. Dropping tools into a sump is usually about messy workspaces, not break room rules. Derek's point about replacing stuff is fair for cameras or personal gear, but a torque wrench is shop equipment, not a shared kitchen item. Maybe Mike should've had better grip on his ratchet, but that's a whole different story than someone swiping your lunch. Feels like you're mixing up two separate arguments here.

Honestly sounds like your buddy owes you a new camera. That's just basic break room etiquette.
