I just hit 1000 sourdough loaves at my home bakery
I was cleaning my oven and found my old baking log from when I started. I counted every single loaf I've made since 2020. The number was 1003. It hit me that I've baked over a thousand of the same basic loaf. I thought I'd get bored, but each one still feels different because of the weather or the flour. Has anyone else tracked their bakes and been shocked by the total?

Wow, that's a serious milestone! I only started logging mine last year, and seeing the number climb really shows how the tiny daily changes add up. It makes you appreciate how much you've learned from all those subtle shifts in humidity and flour protein.

That line about tiny daily changes adding up really got me. I used to think logging was just for people who needed everything perfect, like extra work for no reason. But seeing how you talk about learning from humidity shifts, it clicks now. It's not about being perfect, it's about having a record of what actually worked on a rainy Tuesday. I might have to start writing a few things down.

Just realized I've never logged a single loaf, which means my total is either a cool one thousand or a sad zero, no way to know. My tracking system is basically hoping the sourdough starter on my counter doesn't develop its own civilization. That's a wild number to hit, and it's cool that none of them ever felt like a repeat.
