Rant: My attempt at a 'simple' loaf of bread last Tuesday turned into a kitchen science experiment
I misread the recipe and used a full tablespoon of salt instead of a teaspoon, resulting in a brick that my dog wouldn't even sniff. Anyone have a foolproof recipe for a basic sandwich bread that's actually written for humans?

I did the exact same thing with a pizza dough last month, a full quarter cup of salt instead of sugar. It was like licking the ocean. My go-to now is the King Arthur Flour classic sandwich bread recipe, the one with the orange border. Their instructions are bulletproof.

That "licking the ocean" feeling is the WORST. I once grabbed the wrong bag and put a cup of powdered sugar in my spaghetti sauce instead of parmesan. It looked right but tasted like sweet ketchup on noodles. Had to throw the whole pot out. Some mistakes you just can't fix.

Licking the ocean" is probably the most accurate description of a salt disaster I've ever heard. I'm honestly shocked you only used a quarter cup and it still came out that bad. I always figured salt was a little more forgiving than that, but I guess not when you're swapping it for sugar in dough. I've never tried the King Arthur recipe you mentioned, but if their instructions are as solid as you say I might have to give it a shot. It sounds like it's saved you from any more ocean-licking disasters.
