Spent $90 on a digital scale thinking it was overkill, now I'm mad at my old measuring cups
I bought a $90 kitchen scale last month after ruining my third batch of macarons in a row because my cups were packing the flour too tight. Weighed everything for the first time and the same recipe that kept coming out hollow and cracked finally worked, all four trays. My old cups were off by almost 30 grams on flour alone, which is a huge deal in baking. Now I'm wondering how many other recipes I gave up on that were never actually my fault. Has anyone else switched to weighing and been shocked by how far off their cups were?
