Bank transfer sat in limbo for 5 days and nobody could tell me why

Sent $2,400 from my credit union in Austin to my landlord's account in Phoenix last Monday, and it just vanished from the system for almost a week. The money finally landed Friday but both banks kept blaming the other side's processing queue and I got three different answers from three different reps about which step failed. Has anyone else had a wire just disappear like this, and did you ever find out if it was a routing number mismatch or something else in the backend?

Does your bank use that third party processor for wires? I had basically the same thing happen sending money for a car I bought from a guy in Dallas, took 6 days and the worst part was the money showed as "pending" then just disappeared from my account entirely for like 48 hours. I called every day and got told it was "in a holding file" and then another rep said it was a "batch error" and I still never got a straight answer about whether it was the routing number or their internal system. My bank finally admitted they had a known issue with that specific corridor and didn't tell anyone until I asked to file a complaint. It's crazy how they just let money sit there with no tracking.

Ended up filing a complaint with the CFPB after a similar 4-day freeze on a wire to my sister in Denver, and that got their attention real quick. The bank called me back within two days and explained it was a mismatch between their old routing prefix and the receiving bank's new system, not a number error on my end. Once the complaint was in, they added tracking flags and it moved that same afternoon, so pushing them with a regulator seems to be the only way to get real answers.
