Went into a Chase branch in Chicago last week and it totally changed my mind about cashless banking
I've been one of those people who thought physical bank branches were basically dead weight for the last 5 years. But I had to deposit a $900 check from a contractor who only does paper checks and the ATM was down. A teller named Maria spent 20 minutes helping me set up a savings goal through the app while I was standing there. She also pointed out that my checking account had a $50 fee I was totally avoiding by keeping a minimum balance. Now I get why they still invest in these buildings. Has anyone else had a good experience at a bank branch recently?

Oh man, that's such a perfect example of something I've been noticing everywhere lately. It's like we're all in such a rush to get rid of anything physical or human, but then a real person just... helps you out and suddenly you remember why that stuff exists. I swear, half the time I think the real value of a bank branch is just having someone who can look at your situation and go "hey, you're paying for something you don't have to." It's the same reason I still go to a proper hardware store instead of just ordering everything online. Sometimes you need a person to tell you which screw actually works for your wall, you know?

Right? That hardware store thing hits hard. You walk in with some vague problem and the guy at the counter just knows exactly what you need, no app can do that. It's weird how we think we're saving time by cutting out that step but sometimes it actually saves you a whole lot more time and hassle in the long run.
