My uncle, a barber for 40 years, told me to never use clipper oil on a hot blade. I didn't listen.

Had a guy come in for a skin fade yesterday. My Wahl Seniors were running hot. Grabbed the oil. Uncle's voice in my head said 'wait'. I oiled them anyway. The metal sizzled, smoked a little. Now the blades have this weird, sticky residue. Fade was fine, but the clippers sound off. Had to finish with my backups. He was right. How do I fix this? Just a deep clean or did I ruin the blades?

Clean them first, then oil them cold.
