Spent a full hour trying to blend a stubborn cowlick on a kid's haircut last Tuesday

This young client had a really strong double crown, and I kept thinking I had it smooth, only to see it pop back up after a dry check. I must have gone over the same spot with my Wahl Senior clipper for what felt like forever. Anyone have a go-to method for those really persistent ones that saves some time?

Oh wow, that texturizing shear trick is smart... so you're basically just working on the very bottom part, right where the hair turns? Do you find it works better on thicker hair, or does it help on fine hair too when it's being stubborn like that?

Ever try thinning shears on the crown first?

Gavin's on the right track with thinning shears. I'll take it a step further and use a 40-tooth texturizing shear on the very bottom layer of that double crown before I even touch the clipper. It breaks up the weight without leaving any visible lines. Then I go in with my clipper over comb, using a much lighter touch. It stops the hair from fighting back so hard because you've already taken the fight out of it underneath.
