Bought a fancy digital thermometer that promised perfect brisket, lost $80 and a whole weekend
I saw this new Bluetooth thermometer online that said it could track the stall perfectly. It cost $80. I set it up on a 16-pound brisket last Saturday, but the app kept losing connection. The readings jumped all over, and I ended up pulling the meat way too early because it said 203 degrees. It was tough and under-rendered. Has anyone found a simple, reliable probe that just works without the tech fuss?

Oh man... my buddy had the same exact thing happen with one of those smart probes. He was so excited to try it on a pork shoulder. The app kept saying his phone was too far, even though he was sitting right next to the grill. It finally told him it was done, and the thing was basically raw in the middle. He had to order pizza for everyone. Total waste of meat and time. I just use a simple old school probe now... the kind you just poke in and read the number.

Wait, raw in the middle after it said it was done? That's actually scary. I'd be so mad, like that's a whole meal ruined and you could make people sick. Makes you wonder what the probe was even reading, you know? I'm with you, the simple one you just look at is foolproof.

Heard those Bluetooth ones can be a pain with signal. Did you try just a basic dial thermometer from the hardware store? Mine never lets me down.
