I finally stopped using grease on pedal threads and switched to anti-seize

About 8 months ago I had a customer bring in a set of pedals that were absolutely welded to the crank arms. Took me 45 minutes with a breaker bar and some heat to get them off. The old grease just dries up and causes corrosion over time. Since then I put anti-seize on every pedal install I do. Makes future removal a breeze. Any of you guys made that switch or still sticking with grease?

Yeah that "grease dries up and causes corrosion" part is EXACTLY what happened to my buddy Steve. He rode his bike for like 4 years without ever taking the pedals off. When he finally needed to swap cranks we had to use a bench vise and a pipe wrench and it still took an hour of cranking. The threads were completely seized with this white powdery crust. I swear the grease just turned into concrete. He switched to anti-seize after that and now every three months he pops them off easy. Its night and day difference. I think shops should just stop pushing grease for pedals already.

OH MAN I used to be ALL about grease on pedals. I thought it was just the right thing to do. But @wendy_park76 you just totally changed my mind with that story about Steve. I had the same exact white crusty mess on a set of old mountain bike pedals last year, and it took me two days of soaking in penetrating oil to get them off. I'm switching to anti-seize tomorrow, no joke.
