Just read that chickens can recognize over 100 different human faces and now I look at my flock differently

I was reading this poultry science blog last night because my Buff Orpington hen Betty has been acting weird around my neighbor. Turns out she just doesnt like him. The article said chickens remember who was nice or mean to them for months. So when Betty hisses at the mailman shes actually holding a grudge. Has anyone else noticed their chickens acting different around specific people?

Spent 3 hours tracking down a supplier who went out of business without updating their website

Finally found an old voicemail from 8 months ago saying they shut down, so now I gotta rebuild my whole material sourcing list from scratch anyone else dealing with outdated vendor info around Detroit?

Question about traction loss on older Otis units after controller swap

We swapped out a 1992 Otis 211 controller for an MCE iBox on a 8-stop hydraulic in downtown Milwaukee. Before the swap, the car leveled within 1/8 inch every time. After the swap, we are getting random 3/4 inch overtravel on the top two floors. The valve is an old Dover 5-20 with a 12 inch ram. We checked the encoder feedback and the brake drag but nothing stands out. Has anyone else seen this kind of drift after a controller retrofit on these older hydro setups?

Tried a ultrasonic cleaner on injectors and got a surprise

I picked up a cheap ultrasonic cleaner off Amazon for 80 bucks to clean some injectors from a 7.3 Powerstroke. Ran them through a couple cycles with Simple Green and they looked great, but two of them tested worse than when I started. Learned that you have to pull the o-rings and do some disassembly first, otherwise the crud just settles deeper in the passages. Anybody else run into this with ultrasonic cleaning?

Finally managed to turn 5 pounds of chicken thighs into 8 separate meals last week

I always felt like I was wasting money buying in bulk, but last week I grabbed a big pack of chicken thighs on sale for $2.19 a pound. I roasted half for dinners, shredded the rest for tacos and soup, and even froze some for quick lunches. It came out to like $1.30 per meal compared to the $4 I normally spend on frozen stuff. Anybody else have a go-to trick for stretching a cheap cut of meat across the week?

They were right, I was putting it on too thick and not wiping off the excess enough. Has anyone else had to relearn the basics after a rude awakening like that?

Stopped into a tiny pizza joint in Cleveland and noticed their flat top setup

Honestly, I was at Angelo's Pizza on the west side last weekend grabbing a slice, and their flat top grill caught my eye. They had it running at 375°F steady, no hot spots, and the cook was using it to toast sub rolls and sear off mushrooms at the same time. Made me realize I've been underutilizing my own flat top at work for prep. Has anyone else picked up a simple kitchen trick just by watching another place work?

Clipper blade slipped during a fade on Saturday and I learned a lesson the hard way

I was doing a skin fade on a regular at my shop in Austin around 2pm. My 000 blade caught a little patch of skin right above his ear and nicked it good. He was cool about it but I felt awful. Had to stop and switch to my trimmer to finish the rest of the fade carefully. Any other barbers have a trick for keeping steady when your hand starts getting tired halfway through a cut?

Learned a wild phishing trick from a receptionist in Omaha

I was waiting to sign some paperwork at a dental office last Tuesday, and the receptionist mentioned how she nearly got tricked by a fake email from "the boss." It looked totally legit with the right logo and signature, but the ask was for gift cards. She said IT had to run a whole training after three other offices in their network fell for it. Has anyone else seen these CEO impersonation scams getting more convincing?

I used to think all old pottery was just broken junk until I saw the Mimbres bowls from New Mexico.

For years, I'd see a pile of old potsherds and think it was trash, but a trip to the Gila Cliff Dwellings changed that. The guide explained how each Mimbres bowl, even the broken ones from around 1000 AD, had a story in its design, like animals or people. Now I look at any old piece of clay and wonder what it was part of and who made it. Has anyone else had a find that totally changed how you see everyday objects from the past?
