I just hit 500 bottom bracket replacements in my shop log and it made me think about how much that job has changed.

Adam, that Phil Wood story hurts just hearing it. It's brutal when you're stuck waiting on a part that should be simple but turns into a whole saga. I hope the customer was decent about it, because that kind of headache is the worst.

500 replacements, that's wild. I remember when it was just a simple cup and cone setup, maybe a cartridge if you were fancy. Now you need a whole drawer of tools just for the different press-fit standards. The worst is when a customer brings in a bike with some obscure BB that you have to special order. What's the weirdest one you've had to track down?

Honestly the weirdest was a Phil Wood Italian threaded bottom bracket for a vintage Colnago. Took three weeks and two wrong shipments from the distributor. Felt like finding a part for a spaceship.
