Just saw a shop in Springfield using a car lift on carbon frames

They had a customer's $8,000 road bike clamped in a standard automotive lift by the seat tube. The owner said it was 'fine for a quick look,' but that's a great way to crack a layup. Has anyone else had to fix damage from a shop using the wrong gear?

Would they clamp a carbon car frame like that?

It's a terrible idea, you need soft jaws or a proper stand.

Saw a shop do that once, cracked a down tube right at the clamp.
