My cousin swore by using a zip tie as a chain whip
He said it worked 'every time' on his old mountain bike, so I tried it on a tight cassette lockring. The zip tie snapped instantly and I had to order the proper Park Tool SP-2. Anyone have a better hack for when you're in a real pinch?

Susan says it'll round off your lockring but I've seen people use zip ties for way sketchier stuff than this and get away with it. The trick is you need a heavy duty one, not some dollar store flimsy thing, and you gotta wrap it around the chain a couple times to get some real grip. Honestly half the "hacks" I try end up failing too but sometimes you just need something to hold you over until the real tool shows up.
