PSA: I stopped using shop air on customer bikes and switched to a $12 brush set, best move in months
Honestly I used to blast every drivetrain with the compressor at 90 psi because it was fast, but last month I had to redo a bottom bracket on a repeat customer's bike out in Fresno because the air just shoved grit past the seals. I swapped to a cheap nylon brush set and some citrus degreaser and the same job took 15 extra minutes but the chain and ring came out spotless. Tbh I think the compressor still wins for drying frames after a wash, so I am not tossing it. Ngl I am torn on whether the brush method is worth it on muddy mountain bikes where time matters. Has anyone else bailed on air entirely, or do you keep both depending on the bike?
