Torque wrench click had me fooled for a year on carbon bars

I was torquing stem bolts on a carbon handlebar setup, always stopping at the click, thinking that was the spec. But last Tuesday I noticed the bolts felt loose after a short ride, so I borrowed a friends digital wrench and checked them. Turns out my old beam style wrench was clicking at 4 Nm when I thought it was 6 Nm, the calibration sticker was faded and I never rechecked it. That slip could have cracked the bars or worse, so now I test my torque wrench against a known weight every few months. Anyone else trust the click for way too long before verifying it?
