Almost passed on a show because the opening felt flat
Grabbed a new series last week. Initial episode moved like mud. I almost clicked away for good. A coworker said to hang in there. Gave it another shot next night. Things clicked by the third part. Now I'm deep into season two. The slow build makes the payoff better. Do not write off a series too early. You could skip something great.

Honestly, a slow build doesn't always mean a good payoff. I've wasted time on shows that never got interesting. Your luck might not work for everyone else.

My friend Jake wasted a month on The OA before realizing the payoff was a dance number.

I watched three seasons of The Wire before it clicked for me, but that's extreme. My rule now is the three episode test. If a show hasn't given me one hook, one character or plot line I care about by then, I drop it. Life's too short to force it. What's the latest show you gave up on?
