Am I the only one who thinks Breaking Bad is overrated?
I was at a BBQ last weekend and my buddy Dave just came out and said he couldn't get past season 2 of Breaking Bad. I always thought it was a masterpiece, but he made a point about the pacing being too slow and the wife being insufferable. It hit different because I realized I had been skipping episodes during my rewatches. Has anyone else felt like a classic show just doesn't hold up once you step back?

Got a similar wake up call a few years back when I tried to show it to my girlfriend and she fell asleep three episodes in. I used to be the guy who'd argue it's the greatest TV drama ever made, no questions asked. But watching it through her eyes made me realize how much of the first couple seasons is just watching Walt make agonizingly slow decisions while Skyler gets the worst writing possible. I've since cooled on it a lot, especially after seeing shows like Better Call Saul handle pacing and character work way better. Not saying it's bad, but I can totally see why someone wouldn't want to push through the slow parts to get to the big moments everyone talks about.

Is it weird how rewatching with someone can totally change your whole view on a show?
