Finally convinced my buddy that The Americans is not too slow

He kept saying he got bored in season 1 and gave up. I told him to push through to episode 8 of season 1 and if he still hated it I'd drop it. He texted me last night at 2am after finishing season 3 saying he was wrong lol. Anyone else have a show where the first few episodes are a slog but the payoff is huge?

Haha yeah I told my friend the same thing. Those first like 5 episodes are a grind with all the setup and the whole "we're spies but also parents" thing feels kinda slow. But once you get to the edge of town stuff in season 1 it starts clicking. I had the same problem with The Wire honestly, had to muscle through the first 3 episodes before I got hooked and then I was obsessed. Good on your buddy for sticking with it, The Americans is seriously underrated.

Totally agree with you on The Wire too, that show takes a few episodes to settle in. It's funny how some of the best shows have that slow build where you just gotta trust the process. My buddy almost quit The Americans after episode 3 and I was like just give it a little more time, it pays off big time. The way they weave the spy stuff into the family drama is so good once it clicks. Glad your friend stuck with it, it's one of those shows that deserves way more love than it gets.
