inWatch out for the craft fair "pop-up" fee traps near Austin
I saw a whole thread about this same kinda thing over on a local Facebook group a couple weeks back. Some lady was complaining about the Georgetown square market doing the same trick with "awning" fees that showed up after she paid for her spot. She said it ended up being an extra $40 for a plain white tent she coulda brought herself. Sounds like these pop-up events are getting sneaky with the add-ons, probably cause they know you're already loaded up with inventory and can't just walk away. At least now you know to ask for the full price list before handing over any cash, even the "final" one.

inBarista in Portland corrected my dialogue tags and it stuck
Three separate times this month alone I have had complete strangers point out stuff in my daily life that I completely missed. The barista at my local coffee shop noticed my car had a taillight out before I did, and last week a guy at the grocery store told me my plant was getting too much sun because the leaves were curling, and he was right. That cashier story you shared fits right into this whole thing, people who are not stuck inside your head can just see the obvious stuff better. We spend so much time staring at our own projects and routines that our brains start filling in the gaps with what we expect instead of what is actually there. A fresh set of eyes is like a free cheat code for real life, you just have to be willing to listen.

inWhy does nobody talk about wood stove seasoning for the first heat of fall?
Honestly, that burnt oil smell is no joke. I read somewhere that you're supposed to do a few low, slow burns to cure the paint, not just let it sit and hope for the best. Tbh, I did the same thing my first year, fired it up hot and the whole living room smelled like a mechanic's shop for a week. I ended up opening every window and running a fan, but the smell stuck to the curtains. Now I always do a couple of small fires in late September, just to bake the paint on gently before it actually matters.

Still better than my run where the deodorant cap vanished and my bag smelled like a locker room for a month.
