Heard a coworker say they skipped the first season of a show to 'get to the good part'

I mean, that's like reading a book starting at chapter 10, you miss all the character setup. Has anyone else bailed on a show's first season and actually enjoyed it more?

My buddy did that with Parks and Rec. He started at season two and loved it. Went back later and said the first season was a slog anyway.

My sister skipped the first season of The Office and never looked back. She says the show really finds its rhythm in season two. I tell people to just read a quick summary of season one plots online if they're worried about missing something. What other shows have a rough start like that?
