Showerthought: Binge watching The Bear made me forget how food shows used to be all calm and pretty
I started season 1 of The Bear last Friday and by Sunday night I was stress-eating chips in the dark, so how did a show about a sandwich shop turn my cozy cooking show habit into a panic attack?

Have you tried watching it in small chunks like 20 minutes at a time with a glass of water nearby? That's how I got through the chaos without losing my mind.

Hold on there... sipping water while watching might actually make it worse if the water's too cold. Had a buddy who tried that and ended up with brain freeze on top of the chaos on screen. The real trick is pacing yourself with the show's natural breaks, not the clock. If you cut it at 20 minutes you're probably stopping right in the middle of a tense scene and that just leaves you more rattled. I found it works better to watch until a natural lull happens, even if that's only 10 minutes or a full 30. Just my two cents from sitting through it myself...
