The 2 episode rule that saved my watch list from ruin

I kept dropping shows after the first episode, then got stuck in the same 5 reruns. My buddy in Chicago told me to give every show 2 episodes before deciding, no exceptions. Tried it with a series I hated at first, by the 2nd episode something clicked. Now I'm 3 seasons deep on stuff I never would've touched. Anyone else use a minimum episode count before quitting?

I read a piece in a psychology newsletter that said people form first impressions in under 30 seconds, which is way too quick to judge a whole show. The two episode rule gives the writers time to set up characters and tone, and honestly some of my favorites took a full season to really hit their stride. Your mileage may vary, but I have a hard rule of three episodes now, it has saved me from missing some real gems.
