A buddy told me I was overexplaining rules and it finally clicked
Last month at Thursday night gaming I was teaching Clank! and my friend Mike just said 'dude, just tell me what I need to do on my turn, not the whole rulebook.' I realized I was dumping every edge case up front instead of letting things come up naturally. So I started using a 60 second overview for new players and now setup time is cut in half and people actually remember the flow. Anyone else have a teaching style that you had to rethink?

Best teaching tip I ever got too, keep it simple.

Ha, tell that to my brain that thinks every lesson needs a full Broadway production!

Man, I totally get that. Once you start chasing the perfect lesson it's easy to go way overboard. Sometimes a quiet worksheet and a decent example do the trick better than all the flash.
