Forced a corner piece into a puzzle for 20 minutes before my wife pointed out it was the wrong one
We were doing a 2000 piece puzzle of a mountain scene last Friday night. I was so sure this piece fit in the top right corner, even though it kept popping up slightly. My wife just watched me struggle, then casually flipped it over and showed me the color didn't match at all. Felt pretty dumb. Has anyone else tunnel-visioned like that during a puzzle?

Hard disagree though. That corner piece was probably the only one that even remotely looked like it could go there, and your wife just got lucky flipping it over. Happens all the time where a piece fights you for a bit but then clicks in if you just force it right. I've definitely jammed pieces where they didn't quite match the picture but the shape was perfect, and after a little elbow grease they were fine. Did you actually try matching the colors from three feet back or were you just staring at the one spot?

Yeah man, @jesse_craig26 is right that sometimes pieces just need a little convincing, but you gotta check the back of the piece too - if the cardboard pattern doesn't match the surrounding pieces on the reverse side, it's a dead giveaway it's wrong no matter how good the front looks.
