Pro tip: stop calling every worker placement game 'like Agricola'

Honestly, I was at a game night in Columbus and someone described Lords of Waterdeep as 'Agricola with a fantasy skin'. Ngl, that's just wrong because the resource conversion and tension aren't even close. Has anyone else heard a comparison that just completely missed the point of a game?

Remember my friend trying to explain Caverna to his cousin, who just kept nodding and saying "so it's Agricola in a cave." He gave up after the third time, because the whole farming vs. exploring thing just wasn't getting through. Some people grab onto the first game they learn in a genre and use it for everything, even when it makes no sense. It just flattens out what makes different games fun.

Are you talking about someone comparing Caverna to Agricola or something else entirely? What's the worst comparison you've heard someone make between games in the same genre?
