Rant: I spent $120 on that popular dungeon crawler and regret every penny

Everyone raved about Gloomhaven Jaws of the Lion so I bought it, but after 4 sessions I felt like I was doing paperwork instead of having fun. The setup took 20 minutes and the story was just a boring slog. Did anyone else find this game way overhyped?

Hold on, is it really that deep? It's a board game, not a car payment - sell it on Facebook marketplace for $80 and call it a learning experience.

my buddy mark grabbed Jaws of the Lion too after everyone online wouldn't shut up about it. dude spent like three hours setting up the first scenario then ragequit when he realized he put a monster tile in the wrong spot and had to redo everything. he said the enemy AI flowchart made him feel like he was filing taxes instead of killing skeletons. never touched it again, just left it on his shelf collecting dust next to a half finished bottle of hot sauce.
