Stopped by the new game cafe in Portland and saw something kind of sad...
They had a huge shelf of modern games, but the only one with dust on the box was a copy of Twilight Imperium. The owner said it's been there since they opened six months ago and no one has ever asked to play it. It made me wonder if some games are just too big for casual spots. Has your local cafe or store had a game that just never gets touched?

Only if you think a board game cafe is a serious cultural institution. Some people treat that Twilight Imperium box like it's the crown jewels.

But honestly, that's just a sign of a bad cafe setup... They should be running a monthly sign-up day for it or something. A place near me keeps their copy of TI in a glass case like a trophy, and they host a game every other Sunday that's always full. If a game sits that long, it's on the owner for not making it an event.
