Tried to save money on a used boiler feed pump off Craigslist

Picked up a used pump for $200 from some guy in Billings, spent 4 hours installing it over the weekend, and it seized up after running for 2 hours. Learned my lesson: never buy critical equipment from a facebook seller with no warranty - has anyone else gotten burned on secondhand gear?

Ngl, that line about the seller knowing exactly what he was doing hit home. I bought a used air compressor off some guy once, worked fine for like 45 minutes then started smoking real bad. Pretty sure he just cleaned it up enough to sell it. Sucks when you think youre being smart with money and it just backfires.

Four hours of work just for it to lock up after two hours? Man, that's brutal. I've bought used tools off Craigslist before but nothing that critical. A boiler feed pump is something you'd think would be built tough, but they're usually worn out for a reason when somebody sells them cheap. Bet that seller knew exactly what he was doing too, dumping a dying pump on you. At least you got the experience out of it, even if your wallet took the hit. Next time, you're better off spending the extra cash for something with a return policy.
