Always argued against spoiler warnings, but a friend's story changed my mind

I thought they killed the fun, but hearing how it ruined her first read made me rethink. Now I see they help everyone enjoy the book at their own pace.

Totally! This is like when you finally get why people ask before posting workout pics. Small courtesies seem pointless until you realize how they actually help people in their daily lives. It's about making room for everyone's experience.

How is a book plot equal to real life problems?

Spoiler warnings are a bit different from workout pics though, @paigetaylor. One ruins a story's plot, the other just... shows someone sweating. The small courtesy is the same idea, but spoiler culture is really about letting people have that first-time surprise, like not telling someone the ending of a movie as they walk into the theater. It's handing them an unfolded map instead of just shouting the destination.
