Hot take: That 'classic' novel took me way longer to finish than I'll admit

I finally picked up Moby Dick for our book club last month. Everyone said it's a masterpiece you can knock out in two weeks. Man, it took me six weeks to get through it. The whaling chapters just dragged on and on. Has anyone else felt like a supposed classic just didn't click with you like everyone said it would?

Six weeks? Oh man, I gave up on Moby Dick after like 50 pages. Those chapters about different types of whales had me snoozing so hard.

Honestly @chen.fiona, you just gotta skip those whale chapters and jump straight to the plot, it picks up way faster that way and nobody will judge you for it.
