I finally gave in and read a Colleen Hoover book after years of avoiding it

My book club picked Verity for our March meeting and I went in ready to hate it. I figured it was just overhyped TikTok romance stuff. But I finished it in two sittings and actually had to apologize to the group for being so dismissive about it. Has anyone else had a book they wrote off turn out way better than expected?

Yeah, same thing happened to me with a book I was certain would be terrible and it surprised me.
