Our club picked a 900 page book with 2 weeks left in the month, and 4 people quit
Our book club in Dayton voted in a 900 page doorstop for June, and by the meeting only 5 of us showed up because 4 members bailed saying they could not get past page 150. I pushed for it because the reviews were great, but I did not check the length until the voting was already done, and now half the group is mad at me. How do you all handle it when someone picks a book that is way too long for the time you have?
A buddy of mine had the same thing happen with a 700 pager and his group split it into chunks with a check in halfway through. Turns out people just needed a deadline that was not the whole book.
