Unpopular opinion: reading the book twice beat taking notes the whole way through
I used to fill a whole notebook during our monthly picks in Denver and still miss the point, but reading the thing once cold and then again the night before discussion made me catch stuff I never would have written down, has anyone else tried this?
Did you ever have a book where the second read felt like a totally different book? I did that with one of our picks last winter, went back through it cold before the meeting and caught a whole thread about the brother I had missed the first time. My notes from round one were just quotes I liked, zero actual thoughts about them. Now I just read it once for the story and once for the parts I skipped over in my head.
