Caught my neighbor drowning his Japanese maple last Tuesday
I noticed the leaves turning yellow and dropping in June which is way too early, turns out he was watering the trunk every single day. That tree needs deep watering at the drip line maybe once a week max, not a daily shower at the base. How long did it take you guys to figure out root rot looks just like a thirsty plant?

People really don't get that MORE effort doesn't mean BETTER results in gardening or life.

Yeah exactly, it's like people think love means more water or more sunlight or more whatever. I killed my first fiddle leaf fig watering it twice a week because I thought the drooping meant thirsty, when really it was drowning in my overcare. Had to learn the hard way that plants just want you to leave them alone most of the time.
