Tried grow lights from Amazon vs a cheap shop light and the shop light won easy

I spent like $60 on those purple LED strips off Amazon and my seedlings were all leggy and sad. Then I grabbed a basic 4 foot shop light from Home Depot for $25 and slapped in some 6500K bulbs. My basil and tomatoes look way better now after just 2 weeks under the shop light. Has anyone else ditched the fancy plant lights for something simpler?

I switched from a fancy grow light to a cheap 2 foot LED shop light from Walmart for my peppers and it was night and day difference. The purple lights just didn't have enough power for the seedlings to get thick stems. The shop light with 6500K bulbs stopped the leggy growth cold and my plants are way more compact now. Did you see a big jump in growth after swapping yours?

You ever notice how simple stuff often works better than the fancy versions? Like my buddy spent $200 on a special hydroponic setup, meanwhile I'm using a basic shop light and my pepper stems are thicker than his. Same thing with my tomato cages - bought the expensive powder coated ones, they rusted. The cheap green wire ones from the hardware store are still holding strong three years later.
