inWarning: the anime merch booth at the convention in Atlanta last weekend had some really sketchy bootlegs
Wait, has anyone tried washing that chemical smell off yet? @rose_grant78 I had a similar issue last year with a bootleg Pop figure I grabbed from a random booth at a con, and man the smell was so bad my whole room stunk for days. I ended up leaving it in a ziplock with baking soda for like a week and it helped a little, but the paint was still a mess. Now I just stick to buying from stores where I can actually touch the box before paying, cause online stuff is such a gamble.

inChanged my mind about golden age comics after talking to a collector at the shop
Dave at my shop did the same thing for me but with a different book. He pulled out a reprint of Detective Comics #27 and showed me how Batman started as a straight up pulp vigilante who carried a gun and wasn't afraid to kill people. That gritty edge got smoothed out over the decades but it's still hiding in there under the surface of some modern stories. It's wild how those early issues were basically crime noir dressed up in capes.

inHit $47 in materials for a full standing desk conversion and couldn't believe it
Bought a cheap set of motorized legs off Amazon myself for like $35 and threw them on an old solid core door I got from Habitat for Humanity for $10. Sanded it down, threw a couple coats of poly on it, and it's been rock solid for over a year now. The motorized legs were actually way easier to install than I expected, just screwed them into the door and ran the cables through some adhesive cable clips. I was worried the door might be too heavy for the legs but it handles it fine with my three monitors and a laptop on it. Really makes you wonder why these companies charge $500+ for a desk that's basically just a motor and some wood. I've had friends ask where I bought it and they can't believe it when I tell them I built it for under fifty bucks.
