Nobody warns you that a stripped shower valve screw turns a 20 minute fix into a 9 hour nightmare
Do you cut your losses at 2 hours and call a plumber for $180, or keep drilling and risk cracking the whole cartridge housing like I did in my upstairs bathroom last Saturday?
Man, I felt this in my soul. I read a thread on a plumbing forum where a guy said the exact same thing happened to him and he ended up replacing the whole valve body because the housing cracked. He said the worst part was the water had to stay shut off the whole time so his family was mad at him too lol. From what I've heard, once that screw is really stuck, the drill usually makes it worse, so the $180 plumber call starts looking cheap real fast.
