Had a perfect day laying brick last Thursday and I still dont know why
Everything just clicked on that job at the old library downtown. My mortar mix was spot on from the first batch and I didn't have to redo a single joint all day. Usually I mess up at least a couple corners or get mortar on the face, but this time it just flowed. Finished the whole wall section by 2pm and the foreman just nodded and walked off. Has anyone else had a day where the work felt almost too easy?

Foreman just nodded and walked off" - that's basically a standing ovation in construction language. I swear the universe just decides to give you a freebie day every once in a while to keep you from quitting. Probably the mortar gods were on vacation or something. Next week you'll be fighting with a wall that breathes and a trowel that has a personal grudge against you. Enjoy the win while it lasts, buddy. Did you at least celebrate with a cold one afterward?

Yeah honestly I used to be one of those people who thought "nod and walk off" was just them being dismissive or not caring. But after watching how my brother-in-law works construction and seeing his foreman pull the same thing, it clicked for me. Ngl it really is like a standing ovation from someone who has seen it all and gets that words are just noise most of the time. A nod from a foreman is basically them saying "good job, now don't let it go to your head" without actually saying anything. Tbh it changed my whole view on how some people communicate at work especially in trades where actions speak louder. Now I kinda appreciate the quiet approval more than a big speech.

Whoa hold up, you're forgetting the real MVP here - the fact that Foreman didn't even make eye contact. Tbh that's when you know you really nailed it, because looking at you would mean admitting you did good and that's too much vulnerability for a guy like that. Ngl the silent walkoff is basically their way of saying "I trust you not to mess it up tomorrow" without having to risk being nice about it.
