Just realized my villain was too evil after a beta reader called me out

I had this character who was basically pure evil for no reason. Destroying cities, killing randoms, the works. A beta reader told me 'he feels like a cartoon, not a person.' That stung for a day but they were right. I went back and gave him a real motive rooted in losing his family to a corrupt kingdom. Now he does awful stuff but you kinda get why. Has anyone else had to soften a bad guy after feedback?

Unpopular take on table saws: I choose a track saw over a cabinet saw any day

Honestly I had a chance to buy a used cabinet saw for $400 from a guy in Portland last fall. But I stuck with my track saw instead. Been running it for 8 months now ripping down sheet goods and even some hardwood for cabinets. It's way easier to haul between jobsites and I get cleaner cuts on big panels without needing a helper. Anyone else prefer working this way or am I just stubborn?

Last month in Austin, a retired repair guy at a flea market saw me struggling with a sticky roller on an old OneStep and literally pulled a hairdryer out of his trunk to heat it up. Has anyone else run into random fixes like that that saved you a full teardown?

TIL some guys still use that cheap MDF for face frames

Was helping a buddy redo his kitchen cabinets last week and he showed me the old frames his guy built. Pure particle board with glue joints that were already crumbling. Why spend 40 hours building something you know is gonna sag in 2 years? Have you guys found a way to talk homeowners out of that stuff without sounding like a snob?

Went back and forth on floating vs glue down LVP for a $4,200 job in a basement last month and I'm still not sure I picked right

Floating was way faster to install but I swear I can hear a tiny bit of movement near the floor drain and now I'm wondering if glue down would've been more solid, has anyone regretted going one way over the other after a few months?

Found out most of those Viking helmets with horns are a total myth

I was watching some history doc last night while eating dinner. Turns out that iconic horned helmet look? Made up by some costume designer for a 19th century opera production. Actual Viking helmets found in digs have zero horns on them. Just smooth metal domes with a nose guard basically. Now I'm wondering what else we got totally wrong about the past. Anyone else stumble on a fact that made you question everything you learned in school?
