Got tired of buying ice packs for my lunch bag, so I froze a sponge in a ziploc

I was up at 3am packing my cooler for a 12 hour shift last month and realized I was out of ice packs again. Soaked a dish sponge, threw it in a freezer bag, and it kept my sandwich cold until lunch. Has anyone else found a weird kitchen item that works better than the thing it replaced?

I gotta say, I'm not sold on the sponge idea. I tried something similar a few years back with a frozen washcloth in a bag and it was a soggy mess by lunchtime. The sponge might hold the cold but it also soaks up condensation and leaks everywhere once it starts thawing. Have you had any issues with water getting all over your food or the bottom of your bag?

My buddy @noah_chen17 tried this and ended up with a puddle in his lunchbox by noon.
