Found a $9 pork shoulder at Aldi on a Tuesday and fed my family of 5 for 4 dinners
Walked into the Aldi on Capitol Drive two Tuesdays back around 9am and saw pork shoulders marked down to $9 each because they were a day from the sell-by date. I grabbed two, tossed them in the slow cooker that night with a jar of salsa and a chopped onion, and we ate tacos for two nights straight. Wednesday I shredded the leftovers into a pot of pinto beans with cumin and we did burrito bowls, then Thursday I mixed the last bit with BBQ sauce for sandwiches. Total cost for all of it came to about $24 counting the tortillas, beans, and buns I already had in the pantry. Does anyone else hit Aldi early on weekdays to catch the meat markdowns, or is there a better day I should be checking?
