Skipped the $4 spice blend, ended up spending $28 on single jars

Grabbed a 'value pack' of dried herbs at the discount store in Tulsa, only to realize half were stale and I repurchased everything separately, has anyone else learned the hard way that cheap spices are a false economy?

Stale herbs are annoying but its not exactly a crisis. Toss em and move on, you already ate the $28 so why stress about it. People act like spices expire and become poison but they just lose flavor, not like you ruined a meal beyond saving. Ive bought cheap discount stuff before and half the time its totally fine, just depends on the batch. Maybe you got a bad one but that happens with expensive brands too, its not a conspiracy. Next time just smell em before you buy, thats the real trick.
