Spent $12 on a bag of dried beans vs canned and the math is wild
I finally did the actual cost breakdown after seeing a video about it. Bought a 2lb bag of pinto beans for $2.50 at Aldi last week. That made about 8 cups of cooked beans. The cheap canned store brand is $1.20 for like 1.5 cups drained. So I saved like $6 on that one bag just for one meal prep session. Plus they taste way better with some onion and garlic simmered in. Anyone else find certain pantry staples that just make no sense to buy pre-cooked?

Saving six bucks isn't gonna change your life.

My buddy tried the same thing with chickpeas and ended up with so many cooked beans he had to freeze half of them in ziplock bags. He texted me a picture of his freezer like it was some kind of victory trophy, basically a block of beans. But hey, he's still doing it a year later so the savings must add up for him.
